NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Pelicans superstar forward Zion Williamson has been medically cleared and will play Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets, the team announced.
Williamson has been sidelined since suffering a Grade 1 left hamstring strain on November 4, forcing him to miss the past eight games. In his absence, New Orleans dropped six consecutive contests, leading to the dismissal of head coach Willie Green on Saturday following a 2-10 start to the season.
Entering Wednesday’s contest, Williamson is averaging 22.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Forward Saddiq Bey (left ankle sprain) has also been cleared and will be available against Denver. Guard Jordan Poole continues to sit out with a left quad strain, marking his eighth straight absence, while point guard Dejounte Murray remains out indefinitely as he recovers from a ruptured right Achilles tendon.
