Tottenham have confirmed the acquisition of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a long-term deal, with ESPN sources reporting a transfer fee of approximately €60 million ($70m).
The 22-year-old traveled to London on Thursday to complete the transfer after receiving approval from Leipzig. Simons joined the Bundesliga side in 2023, initially on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, before securing a permanent move in January of the previous season.
During his time at Leipzig, he contributed 22 goals and 24 assists in 78 matches, helping the team win the German Super Cup in the 2023/24 season.
A product of the Barcelona and PSG academies, Simons has long been regarded as a top talent, further proving his quality by scoring for the Netherlands against England in the Euro 2024 semi-final.

Xavi Simons, set to don the No. 7 jersey previously worn by Son Heung-Min at Tottenham, expressed his excitement: “I’m thrilled and eager to start. This has been a long-time dream of mine.
Tottenham is an incredible club, and after meeting the head coach, I instantly felt this was the perfect fit. I’ll bring creativity to the squad, along with dedication and discipline.
I’m fully committed to winning for the team and the fans.”
Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank, who has overseen an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Xavi to the squad—he’s a fantastic addition. Despite his young age, he brings valuable experience, having played numerous matches at the highest level in recent years.
Xavi has demonstrated his knack for scoring and creating goals, whether playing as a No. 10 or on the left wing. His vision for breaking down defenses and finding teammates is exceptional, and I’m confident he’ll integrate well into our hard-working, cohesive team.”
