Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is anticipated to be sidelined for roughly one week due to a left quad contusion and associated muscle strain, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater.

An MRI on Thursday confirmed the diagnosis, and the Warriors announced Curry will be reevaluated in seven days. Sources indicate he avoided a more severe injury.
Curry exited in the final minute of Wednesday’s 104-100 home loss to the Houston Rockets after absorbing multiple fourth-quarter collisions. He first took an elbow while trying to draw a charge on Amen Thompson, then limped through the closing moments before being pulled with 35.2 seconds remaining following a conversation with head performance therapist Rick Celebrini.
“I was actually relieved when I heard it was a quad,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “Better than an ankle or knee.”
The injury comes as Golden State has slipped to 10-10 after a 4-1 start. The Warriors wrap up their current homestand against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
In the wake of the loss, both Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green publicly criticized the team’s recent defensive effort.
