OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a three-year contract extension with defensive tackle Travis Jones on Thursday, resolving a potential dispute over his free-agency status and preventing a scheduled grievance hearing.

The new deal, valued at $40.5 million, ties Jones to the Ravens through the 2028 season, according to a source who spoke to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The agreement was finalized just ahead of Thursday’s hearing, during which the NFL Players Association had challenged Jones’ contract classification. Sources indicate that because Jones did not report to training camp by the required date, he failed to accrue a full season toward unrestricted free agency. Had the grievance proceeded and been unsuccessful, Jones would have entered restricted free agency in 2026.
“The parties reached an agreement that worked for everyone under difficult circumstances,” a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
When asked if the impending hearing added urgency to negotiations, Jones replied, “We simply wanted to finalize the deal. We landed on the right figure, and I’m glad it’s behind us.”
At 26, Jones has delivered a breakout campaign, excelling against both the run and the pass. His six tackles for loss are tied for the team lead, while his 1.5 sacks and five quarterback hits match his career bests.
The Ravens leaned heavily on Jones after Pro Bowl defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike suffered a season-ending neck injury in Week 2. This year, Jones has logged a career-high 67% of Baltimore’s defensive snaps.
Selected in the third round of the 2022 draft, Jones has compiled 136 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and five sacks across his four NFL seasons.
“‘Big Trav’ is a rising talent, and keeping him anchoring the middle of our defense is incredibly exciting,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement.
“I believe Travis Jones is one of the most undervalued defensive linemen in the league given his production and the volume of snaps he handles,” defensive coordinator Zach Orr added. “He’s earned every bit of this. He grinds relentlessly—even on off days, he’s in the weight room. It’s rewarding to watch hard work pay off.”
This marks the Ravens’ second major extension this month, following a three-year, $39.3 million deal for tight end Mark Andrews signed on December 3.
