The Phoenix Suns have been dealt another injury blow after guard Dillon Brooks sustained a broken left hand during Saturday’s double-overtime victory over the Orlando Magic, sources told ESPN.
Medical specialists are scheduled to evaluate Brooks on Sunday to establish a clearer recovery timeline, though he is expected to miss significant time.
The setback adds to the Suns’ growing injury concerns. Prior to Saturday’s game, the team confirmed that All-Star guard Devin Booker will be sidelined for a minimum of one week due to a right hip strain suffered Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs.
Brooks logged just seven minutes against Orlando before exiting with the injury, finishing with five points and three rebounds. He has been instrumental in Phoenix’s playoff push, averaging 21.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game entering Saturday. His scoring has jumped by 6.9 points compared to last season — one of the largest increases among players eligible for the scoring title in consecutive years, according to ESPN Research. The Suns hold a 3-4 record in games he has missed this season.
Booker, meanwhile, is posting averages of 24.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds across 44 appearances this year. The 29-year-old recently returned after missing seven straight games with a sprained right ankle.
Despite the injuries, Phoenix remains one of the NBA’s surprise playoff contenders at 33-24. Under first-year head coach Jordan Ott, the team has developed a fresh identity, led by Booker and Brooks and supported by a promising young core that includes Jalen Green, Collin Gillespie, Mark Williams and Ryan Dunn.
