TYLER, Texas — Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been arrested in Texas for allegedly violating the terms of his probation stemming from a driving while intoxicated conviction, authorities said.
Mahomes Sr., 55, was taken into custody Tuesday during a scheduled meeting with his probation officer after a warrant was issued related to the alleged violation. He remained in the Smith County Jail in Tyler as of Wednesday. An attorney representing Mahomes Sr. did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
He was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to a DWI charge in August 2024. According to a probation violation report, an ankle monitor recorded an elevated alcohol level on Jan. 1.
The initial DWI arrest occurred in February 2024, just over a week before his son led the Kansas City Chiefs to a second consecutive Super Bowl title with a victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Jail records in Smith County indicate Mahomes Sr. has faced multiple DWI-related arrests over the years.
A former Major League Baseball pitcher, Mahomes Sr. played for six teams across an 11-year MLB career that concluded in 2003, according to Baseball Reference.
