Milwaukee Bucks Consider Shutting Down Giannis Antetokounmpo for Season, Star Forward Pushes to Return

The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly considering shutting down Giannis Antetokounmpo for the remainder of the NBA season following his latest injury, but the two-time MVP is determined to make a comeback before the campaign ends.

According to reports, the Bucks prefer to rest Antetokounmpo due to ongoing injury concerns and their fading playoff hopes. However, the 10-time All-Star has resisted the idea, insisting he is willing to return as long as it doesn’t risk further damage to his knee.

The team recently confirmed that Antetokounmpo is dealing with a left knee injury, including a hyperextension and bone bruise, with no official timeline for his return. Sources indicate he is expected to miss at least one week.

The injury occurred during a game against the Indiana Pacers, where the 31-year-old landed awkwardly after a dunk. Although he initially believed he could continue playing, the Bucks held him out for the rest of the match.

Milwaukee currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 28-40 record, trailing the Charlotte Hornets in the race for the final play-in spot. Antetokounmpo has already missed a career-high 32 games this season, largely due to recurring injuries.

With postseason hopes slipping away, the Bucks face a tough decision between protecting their franchise star’s health and honoring his desire to return to action before the season concludes.
