Mavericks Rookie Cooper Flagg to Miss First Career Game Due to Illness

Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd confirmed that rookie Cooper Flagg will sit out Wednesday’s home matchup against the New York Knicks because of an illness.

The top selection from the 2025 draft, Flagg was placed on the injury report Wednesday morning alongside forward Caleb Martin and did not take part in the team’s morning shootaround.

The 18-year-old had started all 15 games for the 4-11 Mavericks so far this season, playing through left shoulder soreness and a sprained right thumb that has forced him to wear a protective splint in recent contests.

Flagg is currently averaging 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
