Man United confirm Matheus Cunha as new No. 10 after Marcus Rashford

New Manchester United player Matheus Cunha will wear the No. 10 jersey that was previously held by Marcus Rashford, the Premier League team announced on Tuesday.

According to ESPN’s report from last week, United has taken the number away from Rashford, who has worn it since 2018. Cunha, who joined from Wolves in a deal worth £62.5 million ($84.6m), wore the same number during his time at Molineux last season.

Rashford has not played for United since December and spent the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old England international has been advised by club officials to postpone his return to Carrington while he looks for a new opportunity away from Old Trafford.

Preseason training for the rest of the team started on Monday.

Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tyrell Malacia have also expressed their desire to leave United this summer and have been given extra time off to arrange their transfers.

If these players do not secure moves, all five are expected to return to United later in July.

Matheus Cunha has been wearing a training shirt with No. 10 on since Manchester United returned to training on Monday.

Ruben Amorim and his team will head to Chicago for a three-game tour in the United States starting on July 22.

Aston Villa has chosen not to make Marcus Rashford’s transfer permanent for £40 million. The price stays the same for any club that wants him this summer, but so far, Manchester United has not gotten any solid offers.

According to sources speaking with ESPN, the forward’s agents are optimistic that Barcelona will increase their interest now that Nico Williams has turned down a transfer by signing a new long-term deal with Athletic Club.

Bayern Munich is also looking for a winger and had previously shown interest in Williams.

Barcelona has expressed interest in Luis Díaz as well, but Liverpool has made it clear that they do not intend to entertain any offers for the Colombian player.

Sources have informed ESPN that Rashford prefers to play overseas and participate in Champions League matches.

He still has three years left on his contract with United, and sources have indicated to ESPN that the club will consider offers for season-long loans if they can reduce a significant part of his salary.im
