Jobe Bellingham Handed Two-Match Bundesliga Ban After Red Card Against Freiburg

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, has been suspended for two Bundesliga matches following his straight red card in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against SC Freiburg.

The 20-year-old Englishman was sent off in the 53rd minute for a professional foul on Freiburg’s Philipp Treu, denying a clear goalscoring opportunity after Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel played a risky pass.

At that point, Dortmund were leading 1-0 through Ramy Bensebaini’s goal, but Freiburg equalized late on via Lucas Höller’s acrobatic scissor-kick volley. 4 “Jobe Bellingham receives a straight red card during Borussia Dortmund vs Freiburg” “LARGE”

On Monday, the German Football Association (DFB) sports court classified the incident as “unsporting behavior,” confirming the two-game ban.

As a result, Bellingham will miss Dortmund’s home clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday, December 19, and the away fixture at Eintracht Frankfurt on January 9, 2026.

This marks the first Bundesliga games the youngster will miss since joining Dortmund from Sunderland in June 2025, following in his brother Jude’s footsteps at the club where the elder Bellingham rose to global stardom. 1 “Jobe Bellingham in action for Borussia Dortmund” “LARGE”

The suspension adds to a mixed start for Jobe at BVB. He made his debut at the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring in his second appearance, but has yet to find the net again. Despite featuring in all 23 matches across competitions this season, he has started only 10.
