PHILADELPHIA — Eagles wideout Johnny Wilson is set to have surgery on his knee and ankle that will end his season, as confirmed by a source from the league.

The injury took place in practice on Tuesday. Wilson seemed to have his leg caught under him during a run play by Saquon Barkley and fell in a difficult manner. He was helped off the field towards the medical tent, showing significant discomfort in his left leg, before being taken inside on a cart.

Wilson, selected in the sixth round of the 2024 draft from Florida State, appeared set to secure a place on the final roster as the fourth receiver. His height and weight for the position are impressive (6-foot-6, 228 pounds). The Eagles appreciate his blocking skills along with his capability to contest for jump balls, a skill he showcased in the preseason kick-off against the Cincinnati Bengals where he recorded three receptions for 73 yards.

The Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report this news.

The Philadelphia squad has multiple receivers competing for positions behind A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson, including Ainias Smith and undrafted rookie Darius Cooper, who has made a strong impression this offseason. Recently, the Eagles also made a trade for John Metchie III, giving up tight end Harrison Bryant and a fifth-round selection in 2026 to the Houston Texans in exchange for Metchie and a sixth-round pick in 2026.

Last season, Wilson participated in four games, concluding with five receptions totaling 38 yards and one touchdown.
