Guard Cole Anthony reached a deal to buy out his contract with the Memphis Grizzlies and intends to join the Milwaukee Bucks once he clears waivers, sources informed ESPN on Saturday night.

The Grizzlies completed the buyout agreement with Anthony’s agents, Jeff Schwartz and Javon Phillips from Excel Sports, on Saturday. As Anthony begins his sixth season in the NBA at age 25, he is anticipated to sign a one-year contract with the Bucks, according to sources.
The Grizzlies traded for Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, four unprotected first-round picks, and one first-round pick swap in a major deal that sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic.
Anthony is known for his scoring skills and has an average of 12.5 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds from his five seasons with the Magic. He was selected as the No. 15 pick in the 2020 NBA draft.
ESPN Research reports that Anthony has been among the top five players in total points and assists coming off the bench over the last three years.
The Grizzlies are working with Anthony’s agents to help him find a new team while also creating room for Memphis to renegotiate and extend Jaren Jackson Jr.’s contract to a new five-year maximum deal worth $240 million.
