LA Clippers point guard Chris Paul will step away from the NBA after wrapping up his 21st year in the league, according to sources who spoke with ESPN on Saturday.
Now 40 years old, Paul boasts a resume stacked with honors: 12 All-Star nods, 11 spots on All-NBA squads, a nod to the league’s 75 greatest players, nine All-Defense selections, and the 2006 Rookie of the Year trophy.
Many had figured this would be his swan song in the pros, and sure enough, he dropped a hint on social media Saturday morning: “What a ride…Still so much left…GRATEFUL for this last one!!”
Paul heads back to his native North Carolina turf as the Clippers square off against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, marking the close of a Hall of Fame journey that wraps up for good once the season fades out.
