Chicago Bulls guard Coby White will remain sidelined for at least another two weeks, missing Wednesday’s regular-season opener against the Detroit Pistons, as he continues recovering from a right calf strain, the team announced Monday.

White sustained the injury during an offseason workout in August and has missed the entire preseason. He returned to practice on Saturday for the first time since training camp began. Although the team had initially expected him to be ready for the start of the season, White told reporters that he still needs to improve his conditioning before returning to game action.
The Bulls said White is progressing well and will continue participating in on-court activities as part of his recovery plan.
The 25-year-old has developed into one of Chicago’s most dependable scorers over the past two seasons, averaging a career-high 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, and shooting 45% from the field and 37% from three-point range in 74 games last year.
White is entering the final season of his three-year, $36 million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
In his absence, the Bulls have relied on Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu as their starting backcourt options during the preseason.
