NEW YORK — Pitchers Brusdar Graterol, Braxton Garrett, and Hayden Wesneski have each agreed to one-year contracts that avoid arbitration, while 166 other major league players are set to exchange proposed salaries with their teams Thursday, including high-profile names like Tarik Skubal and Randy Arozarena.
Graterol signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2.8 million, Garrett agreed with Miami for $1.53 million, and Wesneski will earn $975,000 with Houston. All three pitchers are coming off significant injuries.
Graterol, 27, receives the same salary as last year after missing the 2025 season following November 2024 labrum surgery. He has appeared in only seven games since 2024 and holds a career record of 11-9 with a 2.78 ERA and 11 saves. Garrett, 28, also matches his 2025 salary after missing last season due to Tommy John surgery in December 2024. He has a 16-19 record and a 4.03 ERA over five seasons with the Marlins. Wesneski, 28, was arbitration-eligible for the first time after posting a 1-3 record with a 4.50 ERA in six starts; he underwent Tommy John surgery in May.
Among other notable arbitration-eligible players exchanging figures Thursday are Detroit left-hander Skubal, coming off back-to-back AL Cy Young Awards, and Seattle outfielder Arozarena, both of whom are eligible for arbitration for the final time and could become free agents after the 2026 World Series. Additional players in the group include Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., Brewers catcher William Contreras, Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert, Phillies left-hander Jesus Luzardo, Reds right-hander Brady Singer, Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho, and Orioles outfielder Taylor Ward. More than 100 players are expected to reach agreements Thursday.
