Alexander Isak’s Newcastle future ‘not in my full control’ – Howe

Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe, has stated that he doesn’t have complete control over Alexander Isak’s future at the club as rumors about his star striker increase.

ESPN reports that Isak is considering leaving Newcastle this summer, with Liverpool being the top choice to sign the Swedish player.

Last week, Isak missed out on joining Newcastle’s preseason tour in Asia due to a thigh injury. He also did not play in their first friendly of the summer against Celtic, and Howe mentioned that the ongoing speculation about his future contributed to this decision.

“He is still our player. He has a contract with us,” Howe told reporters in Seoul, South Korea.

“We have some influence over what happens next for him. I really hope all options are still open for us. My wish is for him to stay, but I can’t control everything.”

Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle may be out of manager Eddie Howe’s hands.

“We have not gotten a formal offer for Alex from any club. I hope he stays with us and we can watch him play again next year.”

The 25-year-old player joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has three years remaining on his contract at St. James’ Park.

Isak has scored 62 goals for Newcastle during his three years in Tyneside, helping the team win a Carabao Cup trophy and qualify for the Champions League last season.

Newcastle will play against a K-League XI in Suwon, South Korea, on July 30, before they face Tottenham in Hong Kong on August 3 to finish their preseason tour in Asia.
