With just about a month until the start of the 2025 training camp, the 49ers don’t seem eager to trade Aiyuk, which is what many would expect.

However, what if Aiyuk struggles to play well in 2025 and has a poor season while other receivers like Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall perform better? Could the 49ers consider trading Aiyuk during the offseason of 2026?
From a financial standpoint, the Niners would likely prefer to avoid this situation because Aiyuk still has guaranteed money on his contract. Still, if they believe getting rid of him is more important than dealing with leftover dead-cap costs, they could make it happen.
For the team to take such a significant step, Aiyuk’s performance would have to decline significantly in 2025. So for now, a move like this for 2026 seems quite unlikely.
