On Friday, Argentina achieved their first-ever victory over the British and Irish Lions, winning a warm-up match 28-24 at the Aviva Stadium. This result leaves coach Andy Farrell with much to address as his team prepares for their trip to Australia.

Similar to their last encounter, which ended in a 25-25 draw before the 2005 tour, the Pumas quickly put pressure on the Lions. Ignacio Mendy and Tomas Albornoz scored tries, while Bundee Aki managed one for the Lions, giving Argentina a solid 21-10 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Lions looked different as they played without many key players due to injuries and club commitments. They took the lead again after earning a penalty try and another score from Tadhg Beirne in front of their home crowd.
However, Santiago Carreras restored Argentina’s lead with an impressive team try against the flow of play. The error-prone Lions couldn’t respond again, leaving them with five upcoming matches in Australia to correct their mistakes before facing the Wallabies on July 19.
