Boston Celtics Tie NBA Record With 29 Three-Pointers, Clinch No. 2 Seed in Eastern Conference

Boston Celtics matched an NBA record with 29 three-pointers in a dominant 144-118 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, while also securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The historic shooting performance tied both a franchise and league record previously achieved by the Celtics, as well as the Memphis Grizzlies and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The milestone moment came late in the fourth quarter when Hugo Gonzalez knocked down a three-pointer to equal the record with just over a minute remaining, sending the crowd at TD Garden into a frenzy. Fans urged the team to break the record, but Boston ultimately fell just short despite several late attempts.

Payton Pritchard acknowledged the energy in the arena, noting it was difficult not to notice the crowd’s excitement as the team approached history. Boston had multiple chances to surpass the mark in the final minute, but missed opportunities kept the total at 29 three-pointers.

Eight Celtics players contributed at least two three-pointers, highlighting the team’s depth and shooting strength. Sam Hauser led the scoring effort with 24 points and eight three-pointers, while Neemias Queta added to the celebration by hitting the first three-pointer of his career along with grabbing 10 rebounds.

Beyond the record-tying performance, the victory carried major playoff implications as Boston officially locked in the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Under head coach Joe Mazzulla, the Celtics reached at least 50 wins for the fourth consecutive season, continuing their strong run despite roster changes and injuries.

With a 55-26 record, the Celtics now turn their focus toward the postseason, determined to build on their regular-season success and prove doubters wrong as they prepare for the challenges ahead in the NBA playoffs.
