Denver, CO – Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic delivered a night for the record books as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Dallas Mavericks 142-135 on Wednesday.
Murray exploded for a season-high 53 points, while Jokic recorded his 30th triple-double of the season with 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 19 assists. This marks the first time in NBA history that a team has one player scoring 50+ points while another registers at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in the same game.
The performance brought back memories of Game 3 of the 2023 NBA Finals, when both Nuggets stars posted 30-point triple-doubles against the Miami Heat. Wednesday’s feat came during a back-to-back, with Denver tipping off just 16 hours after landing from a win in Phoenix.
“Fifty-three from your point guard and 23, 21, 19 from your center—just outrageous numbers from the best tandem in the NBA,” Nuggets coach David Adelman said. “They are the history book of this franchise in terms of longevity, playoff battles, and everything they’ve been through together.”
Nuggets Legends in the Making
Jokic, drafted 41st overall in 2014, and Murray, the seventh overall pick in 2015, have combined for over 400 wins together in the past decade, including playoff victories. They reached the postseason two years after first playing together and captured Denver’s first NBA title four years later.
“From nobody to somebody, into a championship, and still performing—our journey together has been incredible,” Jokic said.
Perfect Chemistry on the Court
Murray, just two points shy of his career high, highlighted the duo’s unique chemistry. “Sometimes he’s having a rough day, I pick up the slack; other times I’m off, and he takes over. There’s no tug-of-war, no animosity,” Murray explained.
Their performance on Wednesday proves why the Murray-Jokic partnership remains one of the NBA’s most dominant tandems, keeping the Nuggets in strong contention for the playoffs this season.
