Schroder suspended three games for attempting to strike Doncic

The NBA suspended Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder for three games on Saturday after he confronted and tried to strike Luka Doncic following the Kings’ 125-101 loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles on Dec. 28.

During the game, Doncic and Schroder exchanged words, including a timeout taunt from Doncic referencing the $82 million contract Schroder declined from the Lakers years ago. The situation seemed to calm by the final buzzer, but Schroder confronted Doncic again in the tunnel near the home bench after leaving the visitors’ locker room.

Schroder reportedly told Doncic he couldn’t call him a “b––” on the court and act like nothing happened afterward. The NBA determined that Schroder attempted to strike the Mavericks star. Lakers center Deandre Ayton intervened, while security helped diffuse the situation, eventually escorting Schroder to the team bus. Doncic and his father left in their car, and Schroder departed with his team.

The Lakers and Kings face each other again Monday in Sacramento, and Schroder will miss that game due to his suspension.
