KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed Wednesday night that they are aware of domestic violence allegations made by a woman identified as the ex-girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice.
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “We have no further comment at this time.”
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who has two children with Rice, posted on Instagram Wednesday afternoon photos showing bruises and injuries on her body, claiming years of abuse. While she did not name Rice or anyone else in her post, she stated that the person responsible is the father of her children. The Chiefs have not explicitly confirmed that the allegations involve Rice.
As of Wednesday night, Jones had not filed a police report in Overland Park, Kansas, or Dallas, the two locations she cited in her post where the alleged abuse occurred.
Rice, 25, previously faced legal trouble in July when he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason that injured several people. He pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges—collision causing serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury—and received deferred adjudication, with the case set to be dismissed if probation is successfully completed. The crash involved six vehicles, and Rice, along with four friends, initially fled the scene without checking on the injured. Rice publicly accepted responsibility and apologized via Instagram story four days later.
In August, the NFL suspended Rice for six games for violating its personal conduct policy, a suspension he served at the start of the 2025 season.
