CLEVELAND — Cleveland Cavaliers forward Max Strus will be out for at least another month as he continues his recovery from surgery on a broken left foot, the team announced Tuesday.
Strus sustained a Jones fracture—a break in the bone connecting the pinkie toe to the base of the foot—during offseason training and underwent surgery on August 26. A recent evaluation and imaging revealed that he needs more time for the fracture to fully heal. Initially, the team expected Strus to return to basketball activities within three to four months following the procedure.
Strus is scheduled for a follow-up evaluation with Dr. David Porter, who performed the surgery, along with the Cavaliers’ medical and training staff in the next four weeks. Last season, Strus averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 50 games, including 37 starts, helping the Cavaliers finish first in the Eastern Conference.
