Stars Forward Tyler Seguin Undergoes ACL Surgery; Recovery Timeline to Be Reviewed After Olympic Break

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars announced Friday that veteran forward and six-time NHL All-Star Tyler Seguin has undergone surgery to repair the ACL in his right knee, with his recovery timeline expected to be reassessed following the Olympic break.

The procedure was performed in Dallas by Dr. Dan Cooper, the same surgeon who repaired Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ left ACL earlier in the week.

Seguin, 33, suffered the injury on Dec. 2 in a collision with New York Rangers defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov during the first period. He immediately fell to the ice in significant pain and required assistance from teammates and trainers to leave the rink and reach the locker room at Madison Square Garden.

The injury is another setback for Seguin, who missed most of last season after hip surgery but made a late-season return and helped Dallas reach the Western Conference Final. A longtime cornerstone of the franchise, Seguin has been a member of the Stars since being acquired in a trade with the Boston Bruins in 2013.
