Suns’ Devin Booker to Miss at Least One Week with Right Groin Strain

The Phoenix Suns announced Wednesday that star guard Devin Booker sustained a right groin strain during Monday’s win over the Lakers and will be sidelined for a minimum of seven days before being re-evaluated.

The injury will force Booker to miss at least three important Western Conference road games: Friday vs. Houston, Monday vs. Minnesota, and next Wednesday vs. Oklahoma City.

Currently 13-9 and holding seventh place in the West, Phoenix played the entire game Monday without Booker after he left in the first quarter. He had scored 11 points (4-of-7 shooting) with 3 assists and 2 rebounds in just 10 minutes before exiting with the Suns trailing 27-26.

“I think it happened on the finish against Jaxson Hayes — he went up strong, chest-to-chest, landed awkwardly,” head coach Jordan Ott said postgame. “It didn’t seem immediate, but a play or two later he started stretching it out. At that point we knew something wasn’t right.”

Booker, who has appeared in all 22 games this season, leads Phoenix in scoring (25.0 ppg) and assists (6.7 apg).
