The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has quietly removed multiple cricketers from the players’ list for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) auction scheduled for November 30 in Dhaka, following recommendations arising from a corruption probe into last season’s tournament.
An independent three-member committee investigated allegations that emerged during BPL 2024. Although the report contained observations rather than formal charges — and no players have been publicly named or accused — the BCB decided to bar the individuals in question from this edition.
A BCB statement issued on November 29 read:
“In preparing for BPL Season 12, the governing council sought guidance from the independent chair of the newly formed integrity unit, Alex Marshall. On his recommendation, a number of individuals, including some players, have not been invited to participate in this year’s tournament.”
The board stressed that the exclusion is limited to the BPL only and does not affect the players’ eligibility for other domestic competitions under BCB jurisdiction. The measure, it said, is designed “to protect the integrity of the league and ensure fairness in the ongoing investigation process.”
