ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks announced that star point guard Trae Young’s sprained right MCL is healing on schedule and he will be reexamined in approximately two weeks.
Young has been sidelined since sustaining the injury during Atlanta’s victory in Brooklyn on October 29. He has missed 15 games to date and was initially projected to remain out until potentially mid-December.
Before Friday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Young was seen getting up some shots during pregame warmups. The reigning league assists leader is averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 assists this season.
In Young’s absence, the Hawks have gone 10-5, with forward Jalen Johnson stepping up significantly, posting 10 double-doubles—including two triple-doubles—over that 15-game span.
