Las Vegas, NV — Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson left Saturday night’s 4–3 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks after suffering an apparent injury late in the first period.
The exact nature of Karlsson’s injury remains unclear. He didn’t show any visible signs of discomfort when leaving the ice but did not return for the second period. After the game, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy said Karlsson is considered day-to-day, with further evaluation scheduled for Monday.
Before his exit, Karlsson made an impact by setting up the game’s first goal, delivering a slick behind-the-net assist to Brett Howden.
So far this season, Karlsson has recorded four goals and three assists. He previously posted back-to-back 50-point campaigns in 2022–23 and 2023–24, though last season he was limited to 29 points in 53 games after being sidelined twice due to injuries.
The Golden Knights mounted a late rally with two goals in the third period to force overtime, but Anaheim’s Jacob Trouba sealed the win for the Ducks with a decisive goal assisted by Leo Carlsson.
