The 41-year-old, who recently endured a challenging summer and is now on dialysis, made an emotional appeal on social media and through a statement released by the Jets. “This isn’t an easy message to share, but I want to be open about what’s been happening with me and my health,” Mangold said. Noting that he always knew this day might come, he added, “Unfortunately, I do not have any family able to donate at this time.”
Mangold is reaching out to the Jets community, seeking a kidney donor with type O blood to help him through this critical time.
