Giannis Antetokounmpo Reaffirms Commitment to Bucks — But Acknowledges He’s Only Human

As the Milwaukee Bucks gear up for the regular season, Giannis Antetokounmpo has once again made it clear: he’s fully committed to the team—for now.

In light of recent reports that the Bucks held trade talks with the New York Knicks involving the two-time MVP, Giannis addressed the speculation directly. While he said he hasn’t seen the report himself, he emphasized that his current focus remains on winning in Milwaukee.

“I’ve said it many times—I want to be in a position to win,” Antetokounmpo stated. “I believe in this team and my teammates. I’m here to lead us wherever we can go. It won’t be easy, but I’m locked in. All the outside noise doesn’t matter.”

The NBA star added that his mindset is fully focused on the present, but he also acknowledged that feelings can evolve over time.

“If six or seven months from now I change my mind, that’s only human,” he said. “But for now, the moment I walk into this facility and put on this jersey, I’m 100% committed.”

After missing the start of training camp due to illness, Giannis rejoined the team in Miami last weekend ahead of their preseason opener, though he did not play. The Bucks next face the Detroit Pistons at home on Thursday.

Reflecting on the offseason, Antetokounmpo described it as a time of “temptation,” filled with rumors and possibilities. But now that the season is underway, he says he’s stepped away from social media and is focused entirely on basketball.

“There are always going to be people suggesting different options, talking to me or my agent,” he said. “But at the end of the day, I make the decision—and my decision today is that I’m here and committed to this team.”
