Washington Wizards guard Bilal Coulibaly had surgery on Friday to fix a torn ligament in his right thumb and could miss games well into the regular season, according to ESPN sources.
He picked up the injury while playing for the French national team in FIBA EuroBasket action.
Last season, Coulibaly started 59 games for the Wizards, putting up averages of 12.3 points, 5 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
