Jayson Tatum takes in Patriots camp without walking boot

Jayson Tatum was observed during practice on Wednesday — but he wasn’t on a basketball court.

The Celtics standout was present at the training camp where the New England Patriots were practicing alongside the Washington Commanders.

Jayson Tatum, who had surgery in May to repair a torn Achilles tendon, was seen at Patriots training camp on Wednesday without his walking boot.

Tatum, who underwent an operation in May to fix the torn right Achilles tendon he incurred during Boston’s Eastern Conference playoff defeat against the New York Knicks, was observed walking without any boot or support.

This development is encouraging for Tatum as he continues his recovery, which is likely to sideline him for a significant portion, if not the entirety, of the upcoming NBA season. During his appearance on Wednesday, Tatum primarily remained on the sidelines, engaging with players from the Patriots and Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Tatum has appeared in several social media clips exercising in the weight room at the Celtics’ training facility.

Brad Stevens, Boston’s president of basketball operations, mentioned in June that the All-Star is making good progress post-surgery. However, when inquired about a possible timeline for Tatum’s return, Stevens clearly stated that there would be no hurrying the star’s rehabilitation journey.
