Bayern Munich has reached an agreement to sign winger Luis Díaz from Liverpool for €75 million ($88 million), according to sources speaking to ESPN.
Díaz did not play in Liverpool’s recent friendly loss to AC Milan on Saturday because of ongoing rumors about his potential departure from Anfield this summer. He has now received permission to leave the Reds’ preseason tour in Asia.
ESPN’s sources revealed that Díaz initially expressed a desire to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2024, but the club decided to hold on while evaluating both their team and the market.
Two different attempts to finalize a contract extension fell through because there was a difference between what was offered and what was requested.

There has been a lot of interest in the player throughout the summer. Liverpool turned down offers from both Barcelona and Bayern, making it clear that the player was not for sale.
Sources informed ESPN that earlier this month, the club rejected a €67.5 million offer from Bayern. Last season, Díaz had his best year at Liverpool, scoring 17 goals across all competitions and helping Arne Slot’s team win the Premier League title.
He joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022, and his contract at Anfield will last until 2027.
If he leaves, it will help Liverpool manage their spending this summer since the Premier League champions have already spent about £290 million on Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Hugo Ekitike.
