Demarcus Robinson pleads no contest to DUI charge, gets probation

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson entered a no contest plea this week for a misdemeanor DUI charge and received a sentence of three years’ probation.

The plea and sentencing occurred on Tuesday in Los Angeles. In addition to probation, he must pay a $390 fine and complete court-required programs, which include a three-month alcohol education class, as reported by the L.A. City Attorney’s office to ESPN.

“Mr. Robinson has taken this process very seriously and has already finished most of his probation requirements. We anticipate that his probation will end early at the 18-month point, after which his case will be cleared,” said Robinson’s attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, to TMZ Sports.

Sparagna also informed The Orange County Register that two additional charges—driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and driving without a valid license—were dropped.

Demarcus Robinson, who signed a two-year contract with the 49ers in March, was sentenced to probation this week after pleading no contest to a DUI charge stemming from an arrest when he was with the Rams.

Robinson may face discipline from the NFL due to the league’s personal conduct policy.

His arrest occurred last November while he played for the Los Angeles Rams. Officers from the California Highway Patrol reported that they saw him driving a white Dodge sedan at over 100 mph on US-101 northbound. He received charges in January.

In March, Robinson signed a two-year contract worth $9.5 million with the 49ers during free agency.

Last season, he played all 17 games for the Rams and led the team with seven touchdown catches. He ranked fourth on the team with 31 receptions and gained 505 receiving yards. His total receiving yards, touchdown catches, and average yards per reception (16.3) were all career bests.
