Former Texans and Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman has been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer.

Bryan Braman, a former linebacker for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, is receiving treatment for a rare and aggressive type of cancer. His longtime agent has described his condition as very serious.

At 38 years old, Braman has undergone several surgeries while being treated in Seattle, as noted on a GoFundMe page created to assist with his medical costs. He received his cancer diagnosis in February.

“Bryan Braman has always represented strength, resilience, and leadership at Stellato Sports,” said his agent Sean Stellato in an interview with KPRC 2 in Houston. “He is a symbol of the underdog.

“Now, as he battles cancer, he shows those qualities more than ever. If there’s anyone I believe can conquer cancer, it’s Bryan Braman, who I consider family. He is fighting for his life.”

As of Saturday morning, the GoFundMe campaign for Braman has raised over $52,000, with former Texans star J.J. Watt donating $10,000 and other ex-teammates also contributing.

Braman played seven seasons in the NFL from 2011 to 2017. He won a Super Bowl with the Eagles after joining the team for the playoffs and made a key play by blocking a punt in the divisional round. The Super Bowl LII victory marked Braman’s last game in the NFL.
