The San Francisco 49ers have no plans to trade wide receiver Jauan Jennings, despite his earlier trade request, according to general manager John Lynch.

Jennings, who has been sidelined by a calf injury since leaving practice on the fourth day of training camp, is in the final year of his 2024 contract extension, with a $4.258 million cap hit and over $8 million in dead money.
Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan expressed hope that Jennings will return soon for the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on September 7, though his Week 1 status remains uncertain.
Jennings sought a lucrative contract extension or a trade, but the 49ers are content to let him play out his current deal, with possible adjustments still on the table.
The team has faced similar trade requests from players like Deebo Samuel and Raheem Mostert in the past, often resolving them with extensions or incentives. Shanahan dismissed concerns about team chemistry, viewing Jennings’ contract push as a business matter. With a thin receiver room only two healthy receivers, Ricky Pearsall and Skyy Moore, on the initial 53-man roster the 49ers signed veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling and plan to re-sign Russell Gage Jr., while placing Jacob Cowing on injured reserve.
Lynch noted Jennings is progressing but his availability for Week 1 is uncertain, as the team also anticipates the return of other key players like Dominick Puni and Yetur Gross-Matos.
