Five more players have been invited to the 2025 NBA draft in New York, joining the 19 top prospects who received invitations last week.
Joan Beringer, Nique Clifford, Cedric Coward, Walter Clayton, and Danny Wolf make up this final group of players invited by the NBA to experience the draft with their families. They will be alongside Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey, VJ Edgecombe, Tre Johnson, Khaman Maluach, Jeremiah Fears, Kon Knueppel, Kasparas Jakucionis, Egor Demin, Carter Bryant, Derik Queen, Asa Newell, Noa Essengue, Collin Murray-Boyles, Thomas Sorber, Liam McNeeley, Nolan Traore, and Will Riley.
The green room is where these 24 players will wait with their families and agents before commissioner Adam Silver calls out their names during the draft. Each player can invite six people to join them at their table.
The NBA draft invitation process involves talking with team presidents or general managers from the first round. Teams vote on the top 25 players they think will be picked early in the draft. This helps make sure that players don’t have to wait too long in front of a national TV audience.
Getting an invitation is seen as a good sign for a player’s chances of being drafted. However, some players have still dropped to the second round while waiting in the green room, such as Bol Bol, Deyonta Davis, Nic Claxton, Maciej Lampe, and Rashard Lewis. Last year, two players—Johnny Furphy and Kyle Filipowski—were invited among the top 20 but ended up being selected in the second round.
Starting last year, the NBA draft now takes place over two days. Jase Richardson (ranked No. 18 on ESPN’s big board) and Hugo Gonzalez (ranked No. 22 and whose team is still in Spanish playoffs) are currently the only two projected top 25 players who did not get an invite to the green room in Brooklyn at Barclays Center.
The first round of the NBA draft is scheduled for June 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN/ESPN+. The second round will take place on June 26 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN and the ESPN App.
