Joe Milton is already showing why Patriots may regret trading him away

One of the key decisions the Patriots were expected to make this offseason involved the future of second-year quarterback Joe Milton III.

After they picked Drake Maye with the third overall selection, the team, led by Jerod Mayo, surprised everyone in the NFL by choosing another quarterback in the sixth round—one who believed he was a starter. This move caused quite a stir throughout the season.

With Mike Vrabel now at the helm, it seemed likely that he would determine Milton’s future to prevent any distractions and take advantage of his trade value following an impressive final game.

This eventually led to Milton being traded to the Cowboys, which raised eyebrows since Dak Prescott is their starting quarterback. However, head coach Brian Schottenheimer was thrilled about Milton before he even set foot in Dallas.

Since then, excitement has only increased during OTAs and mini-camp as Milton’s performance has generated buzz for the NFC East team. This might leave Vrabel wishing he had not made that trade.

The Patriots need to move forward regarding Joe Milton, regardless of how well he performs for the Cowboys. It was inevitable that Milton would start practicing with his new team and quickly grab attention for his remarkable skills on the field, especially his strong arm.

That’s exactly what has happened, with Cowboys reporter Bobby Belt stating that a quarterback competition will likely be a hot topic during the season.
