Canadian GP: Aston Martin confirm Lance Stroll will take part.

Aston Martin has announced that Lance Stroll is set to race at the Canadian Grand Prix, his home event, after having a procedure on his problematic wrist.

Lance Stroll will race in this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix after he recovered from a wrist injury.

Stroll had to pull out of the Spanish Grand Prix after qualifying due to pain in his hand and wrist. The team explained that this pain was linked to surgery he had in 2023 after a bike crash during preseason, which caused several fractures.

Aston Martin couldn’t find a replacement for Stroll since he had already completed the qualifying rounds for that race. Additionally, they did not have another driver participate in the FP1 practice session, leaving no option to substitute him with a reserve driver.

There was some uncertainty about whether Stroll could compete in his home race at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend. However, the team confirmed on Wednesday that he had recovered enough to join the race on Sunday.

“We are happy to announce that Lance Stroll will be back with us racing in Montreal this weekend,” said Aston Martin.

“He successfully went through a medical procedure to address his symptoms and practiced in an old F1 car at Paul Ricard earlier this week. Lance feels fit and healthy and is excited to compete in front of his home fans.”

Stroll expressed his enthusiasm by stating: “I’m thrilled to get back behind the wheel with the team for my home grand prix this weekend. I always planned to work hard to be ready for the Montreal crowd.

“I’m feeling good after my procedure and managed some laps at Paul Ricard this week as part of my preparation. Thank you all for your support, and I’ll see you this weekend!”
