Suárez sees global potential as he leads NASCAR into Mexico

Daniel Suárez is set to race in Mexico for the first time in 10 years, competing in both the Xfinity and Cup Series at Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

It’s a full-circle moment for the Monterrey native, who began his career in the NASCAR Mexico Series before moving to the U.S., learning English through cartoons and sleeping on friends’ couches as he chased his racing dreams.

Daniel Suárez returns to Mexico as NASCAR runs its first points-paying Cup Series race outside the U.S. on Sunday in Mexico City.

Now a Cup Series winner and Xfinity champion, Suárez returns home as the face of NASCAR’s first-ever Cup Series points race outside the U.S. since 1958.

For him, it’s more than just a race — it’s a homecoming and a milestone for Mexican motorsports.

“There are a lot of people who love motorsports in Mexico and South America,” Suárez said. “The sky’s the limit.”
