Fans of the Dallas Cowboys have been disappointed for the last thirty years or so. It’s been a long time since the team’s glory days, and many young Cowboys fans today don’t even know what it was like when this team was a powerhouse in the NFL.
The memories of the great Cowboys are slowly becoming legends, making it easier each year for fans to “expect the worst” rather than “hope for the best.”
However, for those Cowboys fans seeking reasons to stay optimistic in 2025, especially with the Philadelphia Eagles coming off a Super Bowl victory and the Commanders reaching the NFC Championship Game, they might find hope in wide receiver George Pickens.
George Pickens could turn out to be one of the best offseason signings in the NFL for 2025.
At their peak, the Dallas Cowboys have had one of the top offenses in football, with CeeDee Lamb handling most of the passing duties. Since trading Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns, they’ve missed having a true second option in their passing game, but Lamb has stepped up admirably.
While Pickens may not yet be as established as Cooper was during his time with Dallas, he is arguably more dynamic overall, particularly on deep throws.
Adding Pickens to the Cowboys’ offense is hugely significant. With a healthy Dak Prescott leading the way, having an outstanding player like Pickens will allow them to take advantage of situations where defenses focus on CeeDee Lamb.
This combination could quickly elevate this Cowboys offense to new levels.
Pickens has started to make a strong impact at Cowboys OTAs, and since his contract ends after 2025, the former second-round pick from Georgia is determined to make this year with the Cowboys really matter.
