Jac Caglianone is set to make his debut in Major League Baseball, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is very excited about it.
The Kansas City Royals announced on Sunday that their top prospect, who is recognized as a top-10 talent, will join the big leagues after performing well in the minor leagues.
Mahomes, who has been a minority owner of the Royals since 2020, shared his enthusiasm on social media after hearing the news.
Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl winner whose father, Pat Mahomes Sr., played in MLB, has always had a strong love for baseball from his time as an athlete in two sports. He continues to support the Dallas Mavericks and cheers for Texas Tech teams in all major sports.
At 29 years old, he also keeps an eye on the teams he co-owns, which include the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, MLS team Sporting Kansas City, and the F1 Alpine Team.
Mahomes has every reason to celebrate Caglianone’s promotion. In his first full season as a pro, 22-year-old Jac Caglianone has dominated Double-A and Triple-A pitching with impressive stats of .322 batting average, .389 on-base percentage, and .593 slugging percentage along with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs over 50 games.
Since moving up to Triple-A, he has continued to perform well with a batting line of .319/.370/.723 and six home runs in just 12 games.
